The "fixer-upper"

camper

We are the proud new owners of a shitty-ass camper! Lets just say the price was right! We've been looking for one so that we could spend some weekends at the woods we bought last year. Due to the super tight budget, we can't afford any kind of luxury. This will do. A serious cleaning, quite a bit of duct tape, and we will be golden.

There is an adorable pop-up camper in a town near us that is painted light blue with grass and flowers. I absolutely love it. My mind is now buzzing with all kinds of ideas for a cute custom paint job for this one. I thought of making it black and painting it up like a huge camera. Corey instantly shot that one down. Any ideas? Please leave them in the comments. Here are some I found while searching for inspiration on Flickr: here, here and here. As for the inside decor, maybe something fun like this?

I will need approve any "cute" paint jobs or interior work. Remember, this will also be a hunting camper.

I love it! Can't wait to see what creative ideas you come up with!

Wow, you ARE a flowerchild! Love those Beetle paint jobs. Having grown up with campers of various sorts, one thing I can tell you is stay away from camo and dark colors.

Dark colors will make it way too hot to live in. Camo says, I'm a skinhead. Let's go kick some butt. Seriously, I've seen it first hand. :|

I like the rustic barn look. You can do lots with that that will be fun enough for you and serious enough for Corey.

Ok 1. LOVE IT!!!
2. What does Corey think? He's going to lean out the door of the cabin and "catch" him a deer? OH wait, he does. My husband would think the same thing...
3. LOVE the second, third, and final ideas. I love the solid color with POPs of color! The cute-sy country looking one but with a fresher look inside, LOVE it!

Definitely NO camo, Doug. Ha! We got a super deal on laminate flooring at Lowes tonight, so the fixing up has begun.

I love the idea of going with a Rustic/Cabin feel and making it your own little "cabin in the woods". Or just turn Lily loose with a paintbrush ;)

Four votes here for painting "Our Shitty Ass Camper" on the back! That would totally make my day if I saw a camper driving down the road with that painted on it.

Go for it!!!

Depending on how wacky you want to be you could go with Spam in the can:

Or squished like sardines:

Hey, Brook. We got quite the fixer upper this summer too! May I mention "eternabond" roof repair. Also, look here for inspiration: http://www.flickr.com/photos/happyjanssens/collections/72157622454912685/

Tami- The link didn't work for me but it looks you were linking to the Dumb and Dumber rv? Awesome idea. That would definitely be an eye catcher!

Leo- LOVE the sardine idea. Too cute!

Aimee- You got one too?! Thanks for the tip. Corey did say that we'd probably better do the roof soon. I clicked the link but it didn't take me right there. Found what you intended in the "Minnie Winnie Renovations" set. OMG love that. That is kind of what I'm going for. Laura found this awesome camper named Constance on Flickr. You can see some pics here: http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=Constance+camper&m=text I want to do a similar retro interior to that one.

That's funny you said that Corey. I was thinking the same thing when I first read Brooks comment! LOL Guess you guys are going to have to find some middle ground. I'll have to think more about this one.
I will have to say growing up in Berkeley, CA. I saw way to many Flower Power VW buses so I'm a little burnt out on that one (sorry brook).
