I made it home yesterday and my flight arrived in Indy a full 40 minutes ahead of schedule. Unheard of!! I I had such an amazing time in PA but, I have to say, last night was THE MOST fun. We had fun channelling our favorite duo: Laverne & Shirley. I'm so glad to have a friend who can approach my dorkiness level.
You can see the whole set of photos here.
When I got home, the surprise was on me. I ended up finding a few goodies in my bag and I just found this picture hidden on my computer:
SO sneeky!

Surprise!
I'm in Pennsylvania! I flew out to surprise my friend Laura and it seems to have worked. I parked down the street from her house and called her on my cell phone. We had our usual morning chat as I walked to the door. She said "someone is ringing the doorbell, I don't think I'm going to get it 'cause I'm not dressed". I assured her that I would I would be right there on the phone with her and if it turned out to be an axe murderer, I'd call the police. She looked out the window (I kept looking down so she wouldn't see it was me) and she said "it looks like a girl". Then she opened the door and we cried. I took these pictures with my phone as she opened the door. We are having great fun playing with her munchkin, Katie, and eating ungodly amounts of chips and Trader Joe's Peach Salsa. More to come, I'm sure.

Strange cat
The dogs got baths today (a necessary part of our cohabitation agreement). The weird part was when I turned around from scrubbing my pooch Chloe, to see Ed the cat on the other side of the tub. Sitting IN THE TUB. There he was, laying in about 4 inches of soapy water, just chillin'. It was as if he was taunting my poor little Chloe, who hates baths more than anything else in the world. He was giving her this look like, "What's the big deal, you sissy?". The funny part was, it seemed to make Chloe a little less nervous to have him sharing the bath with her. She stopped shaking and focused her attention on him for awhile. Corey took a picture of the scene, but unfortunately the memory card wasn't in the camera.
This is an old picture of Ed in another one of his favorite spots.

I've been a bad blogger
Corey and I have been hard at work filling out our pile of adoption paperwork. It feels great to say that we sent in the last piece yesterday! There is still stuff to do, like finish our "Dear Birthmother" letter, get an 800 number and a website, but we are well on our way to the home study, which is super exciting. Now we are waiting on our finger prints to clear the FBI check. We are biting our nails... you can imagine :-)
I had another picture make it to #1 in Flickr's Explore (which probably means nothing to most of the population) but it was pretty cool to me. Basically, out of the 10s of thousands of photos uploaded to Flickr each day, mine was supposed to be the "most interesting" for a time. Whatever that means. Anyways here it is:
Toodles!

Office Upgrade
For the past 3 months, I've been working out of a cardboard box. My office was scheduled to get all new furniture and it has been scheduled to arrive since before I started. I've been dead set against unloading all of my manuals and 5 years worth of accoutrement, thinking that the minute I file and organize all of my things, I'll get the call from the delivery man.
Yesterday the new digs finally arrived. I must say, it looks pretty snazzy. I feel very much like an executive now. There is a big "U" shaped desk with a hutch, 2 huge 3-drawer lateral file cabinets, a bunch more file drawers and even a standing cupboard where I could hang my suit coat - that is, if I wore one. I just don't feel right putting my overalls with crusty manure on the bottom in there. I'll have to take a picture of me sitting at my desk, all official like. Sure beats the heavy, government issue metal desks that the agency had not replaced since the middle of the last century.
Along with the furniture for my private office, I received 6 new 3-drawer file cabinets for the outer office. It was quite a challenge rearranging everything to make them fit, but its so nice to have everything match, for a change.
